Book your tickets for a “World War II” Tour
Cox & Kings is providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for customers to visit the historic sites of World War II, and consequently revise their history lesson. Travelers are invited to access the privately guided tours which will be arranged in time for the 74th D-Day anniversary on 6th June.
D-Day or the Normandy Landings is referred to the time the Allied forces gained a substantial victory over the Axis powers by regaining German-occupied France. Cox & Kings has decided to celebrate this victory on the western front, as the central feature of their tour.
The package includes an 11-day journey which commences in Paris.
Travelers will get a chance to explore historic spots in France such as the American Cemetery of Omaha Beach, the largest World War II-era American cemetery located in Colleville-Sur-Mer, Normandy, France. The next stop will be the Museum for Peace or Le Memorial de Caen.
The other interesting site in France for travelers will be the Dunkirk Memorial, which commemorates the fall of the soldiers when France was lost to Germany. Visitors will also get to visit the Mole and Bray Dunes, i.e. beaches to which the Allied soldiers sought refuge from the Dunkirk setback.
The Dunes, to this day, contain remnants of shipwrecks from the Dunkirk evacuation attempts. Other sites beyond France are also in the travel itinerary such as the CWGC Cemetery in the Frosinone province of Italy.
Tourists will also get the chance to follow the trail of the “Band of Brothers” in the quaint little village of Foy, Belgium before traveling to Bastogne to visit the new 101st Airborne Museum and other sites.
All tourists will then travel by air to Nuremberg, Germany, where they can explore the city.
Guests will also be visiting Dachau, the infamous Nazi concentration camp. Set up in 1933, this was the first concentration camp to be set up in Germany and now stands as the gruesome reminder of war-time atrocities committed on innocents by the Nazi regime.
Other sites in Nuremberg include the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds and the Furth, where private guides will be provided to travelers.
Next up on the journey is the city of Munich, where the itinerary includes the former Nazi headquarters and a general tour of the city.
The city-tour will be different as it’ll explore the city through the eyes of the German citizens in the initial years of the rise of the Nazi regime. Travelers will get to visit viewing halls where the National Socialists gathered and other locations linked to the 1938 anti-Semitic pogrom of Kristallnacht.
The trip will conclude with a half-day private tour to the Eagle’s Nest, the Fuhrer’s erstwhile residence, the property of which was a gift from the National Socialist Workers Party on the occasion of the Fuhrer’s 50th birthday. The expedition to Eagle’s Nest will see the travelers journey through the beautiful Bavarian Alps.
The trip will not only be a journey across beautiful terrain, but a tribute to the memory of millions of people who lost their lives to the senselessness of war. Cox & Kings seeks to capture the historical experience that marred the world in the 20th century, and send its guests along a path of self-discovery while simultaneously reflecting on questions of existence. Don’t miss out on this wonderful educational opportunity.
