For years, having a degree from one of the country's premier universities has been the most important achievement for desi parents and students alike. It has nothing to do with your scores, but we Indians enjoy telling our friends and family that we've enrolled in a prestigious college.
A lot of people dream of getting into top colleges for their studies but not everyone gets it. There are only a few who are able to achieve their goals. Working their brains out, studying for more than 10 hours a day but still a lot of them fail. Many are forced to live with their failures but the worst comes after that. The pressure from the society and parents eventually catches up.
The internet went on a rampage as soon as a user spotted the milk company bearing the tag of IIM alumni on its packet. It tells a lot about our society, how everyone is selling tags and graduating from prestigious colleges is a “tag” in itself. People are not pursuing knowledge or skills, people are pursuing tags for their own branding. This toxic environment of branding has been created by the status-driven society of ours.
In a society where there is a matrimonial site dedicated just to the IIT and IIM alumni, such news didn’t come off as a surprise for many people. Twitter user Namanbir Singh shared a photo of the milk packet, writing, “What’s the point of writing your college name on a MILK PACKET!???

Well, don’t know about the brand but the Twitterati's surely “milked” the content out of it.
