IPL 2022 Venue

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 schedule was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with games taking place in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. A total of 70 league games and four playoff games will be played over the course of 65 days. Season 15 kicked off on March 26 with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals played their first game at the MCA Stadium in Pune on March 29.

Wankhede and DY Patil Stadiums will host 20 matches apiece, while Brabourne and MCA International Stadium in Pune will host 15 matches each. There will be a total of 12 doubleheaders, the first of which will begin at 3:30 p.m. IST. The evening match will begin at 7:30 p.m. IST. On the 22nd of May, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings will play at Wankhede Stadium in the final match of the league stage. The Playoffs and the IPL final, which is set to take place on May 29, will be announced later.

The IPL 2022 League stage is presently being held in numerous stadiums around Maharashtra, and the BCCI may opt to hold the IPL playoffs in multiple locations. The IPL 2022 is now in progress, with the BCCI having already revealed the league stage match schedule. While the IPL Playoffs venues have yet to be revealed, rumors have surfaced that the IPL Playoffs could be held in different locations. The IPL 2022 League stage is presently being held in numerous stadiums around Maharashtra, and the BCCI may opt to hold the IPL playoffs in multiple locations.

The quantity of audience that would be allowed for the playoffs and final, according to the report, was another consideration that kept BCCI from announcing the playoffs venue. In Maharashtra, a 50% crowd is allowed to watch matches; however, if the final is held at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, the BCCI expects at least a 75% crowd, for which the board is now in talks with the Gujarat government and a 75% seating capacity is on the cards. 

"There are several elements involved in planning, especially during Covid times," a BCCI official remarked. As we have observed in numerous cases, air travel is perhaps the most difficult hurdle. It now appears that air travel will be allowed without the risk of a bio-bubble breach. But none have been finalized as of today, and it will take an additional week or so to make a decision because the scenario is still unfolding," he said.
