The Indian Government has recently decided to use two custom made B777-300ER aircraft to fly Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top dignitaries. It will be India’s first dedicated aircraft for the three dignitaries - the President designated as VIP 1, the Vice President designated as VIP 2 and the Prime Minister designated as VIP 3. A subsidiary of the Indian National carrier named Air India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) will be maintained and it has happened for the first time that these aircraft will not be operated by Air India pilots.
The overall estimated cost of these new planes is a whopping USD 190 million and this is enough to describe how good is its functionality. We have been gifted this advance defence system by the US Administration. Now our Indian dignitaries are as safe as US President Donald Trump as this aircraft is believed to be as secured as the B747-200B aircraft used by him. Indian Air Force will manage these aircraft and they will be named as “Air Force One” if reports are to be believed.
So, Let's go through some of the amazing facts about B777 aircraft:
SPS ( Self Protection Suites) are going to be there in an Indian aircraft for the first time and this can jam enemy radar frequencies and divert heat-seeking missiles very efficiently.
Along with SPS, the aircraft will also feature a state-of-the-art missile defence system known as the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure system( LAIRCM).
Apart from various amazing features, the aircraft also has the capacity to store food for around 2,000 people.
The two B-777 are specially customized at Boeing’s Dallas facility with a missile defence system. The aircraft also has the capability to withstand grenade and rocket launcher attacks.
These new aircraft have been specially designed for the travel of the dignitaries only.
These aircraft are also equipped with a special warning and countermeasures system which will require no action from the crew and will automatically counter advanced immediate range missile systems.
As per the reports of ANI (Asian News International), the training of around 10 Indian Air Force Pilots is going under Air India for the new aircraft Boeing 777.
The Boeing 777 aircraft is scheduled to reach India by July 2020. Till then, the wait for one of the most spectacular aircraft continues.
