Arts students are one of the most misunderstood students. It’s not an easy task being an Arts students, especially when every other guy pops up with a random weird question. There is a wide gulf between what you plan to do and what people perceive. Handling such people is a more tedious task than handling your undone assignments.
There are so many things which every Arts student is tired of hearing. While some people consider you to be a painter, others question your intelligence. They have no freaking idea how wearisome your course syllabus is. Tons of assignments, long essays and sleepless nights, yes, you too face all of them.
What most of the folks don’t know is that Arts is not limited to just Drawing, English, History, and Dance. There is a surfeit of other subjects including Psychology, Sociology, Journalism, Philosophy, Fashion Designing, and a lot more. While these dimwits continue to aimlessly wander around you, let’s discuss some of their stupid questions.
“You chose the Arts stream? Wow...Uhh... I mean... Whyyy?” To most of the people, choosing Arts seems to be a compulsion rather than a choice. Well, I chose Arts for the same reason you chose your Science or Commerce.
The next ‘obvious’ question is concerning your grades. You are almost fed up of telling everyone that marks and stream do not need to have any correlation.
Most of the people confuse Arts as a stream with Arts as a subject. The situation goes out of control when they even ask you to draw them. Dude, what do you think of me?
Many people think you have only one option now. Bachelors-> Masters-> Doctorate->Become a Teacher. In fact, Arts is the stream which has more open options than any other stream.
Everyone thinks that Arts classes are the easiest ones without any hectic load of work and assignments. Try asking someone who has to submit 3 essays, 3000 words each, that too on the same day. Arts people cannot even procrastinate until the end. Who would write those 3 essays in that last hour?
Oh Yes!! Exams are really chill for the Arts peeps. Especially those 1,000 quotes which need to be mugged up and those long theories which can be understood in just one go.
Nooo, a Big No. Well, Psychology IS the science of dealing with the human mind, but it is more subjective in its nature. So it apparently falls in the Arts stream.
As told before, Arts has more available jobs than any other stream. Arts students don’t need to pursue that monotonous corporate job like other people. They join some of the most amazing jobs which sound outlandish to the majority.
It’s high-time society changes its perspective about the Arts courses. Pursuing Science or Commerce aren’t the only 2 options which one needs to choose from. However, more and more people are inclining themselves towards Arts majors and this is a good sign.
