After a long wait of 1 year 7 months and 18 days, Game of Thrones is finally coming back and we are not able to control our excitement. Unfortunately, this will be the last season in this epic journey but we are damn sure that season 8 going to be a matchless one. We swear by the old Gods and the 7 new.

But Game of Thrones is not just about this epic fantasy TV show. As exciting is the story, more exciting is the real-life scenarios of this show. Did you know that GoT has a policy of not showing any flashbacks? Or did you know that Jon Snow’s Longclaw was made in India along with Khaleesi’s dragons? Surprising, isn’t it? It’s good to see that GoT has a substantial connection with India.

Long before starting the shoot, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decided that they would be following a strict “No Flashback Policy”, and they have been successful in that. The man behind Westeros and Essos, George R.R. Martin did shot a cameo for the show in S1E1 during Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen’s wedding. But due to some reasons, the scene had to be shot again and GRRM wasn’t available this time.

GoT has the remarkable record of the highest ever IMDB rating for a TV show since the show aired in 2011. The show has a current IMDB rating of 9.5 with 4 of its episode having a rating of 9.9.

4. Indian Connection

The GoT and India connection is way stronger than you can imagine. Jon Snow’s sword Longclaw and his Lord Commander robe were manufactured in Dehradun by “Windlass & Sons” and “Lord of Battles”. These 2 companies have been making most of the merchandise for the show. Not just this. Even the biggest attractions in the show, the dragons (Sorry Night King), were made in a studio in Mumbai.

5. Dothraki is a real language

Ask GoT fans which is the craziest language in this world, and they will say Dothraki. But did you now that Dothraki is a real language. Developed by linguist David J. Peterson, Dothraki comprises 3163 words. Weirder than that, CAT 2017 asked this. Holy Crap!

6. High Valyrian is on Duolingo now

It seems that the night is really dark and Duolingo wants to save you from its terrors as High Valyrian is officially on Duolingo now. Time to start praying to the “Lord of Light”.

7. GRRM’s Test

Buying the rights of GRRM’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” wasn’t so easy for David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It only happened when these 2 guys correctly predicted to GRRM about Jon Snow’s lineage. GRRM asked them who was Jon’s real mother and they gave the right answer. Well, now we all know that answer.

8. Unaired Pilot

The team shot a pilot episode initially but scrapped it later on. The guests who were invited to watch the show didn’t realize that Jamie and Cersei were brother and sister. What? That’s the most important thing dude! That’s why the entire episode was rescripted and shot again.

9. Most Pirated Show

Game of Thrones was the most pirated TV show for six consecutive years from 2012 to 2017. The show broke all records and was pirated more than a billion times.

10. Arya

We all love Arya but some people like to be always 2 steps ahead. As the popularity of the show surged, so did the popularity of the names of the characters. People started naming their new-born kids Arya and Khaleesi throughout the world. In 2017, more than 300 girls with the name Arya were born.

11. Night King’s Makeup

The most dread character in the show, the Night King is indeed frightening. All the credit goes to the artists who pull out all the stops and go an extra mile for this. Did you know that actor Vladimir Furdik spends 7 long hours sitting on a chair while the artists do his makeup?

12. #ForTheThrone Album

The team will be releasing #ForTheThrone album on April 26. It will be featuring some of the biggest stars from Hollywood including A$AP Rocky, Ellie Goulding, The Weeknd, The Lumineers, SZA, Travis Scott, and many more.

Game of Thrones will be ending this year but you don’t need to worry. HBO has planned four spin-offs with the first one releasing next year only. It seems that the Greyjoys are always right. What is dead may never die.
