Apart from their solid storyline attracting audiences from far away lands, they have also been successful in depicting teenage emotions and aspirations for the youth to relate to.

From latest fashion trends to new slang words, sad breakup songs to hip hop party rock anthems, Bollywood has been shaping young minds and giving them an idea of what college life is supposed to be like.

However, one must realise that real life is far different from reel life and it's not all lovey-dovey with happy endings. In further light of the statement, below we have 10 myths that Bollywood has made us believe about College life.

1. The Big Pompous Heroic Entry

Remember Hrithik’s ever stylish, bold entry in K3G where he gets out of an expensive red car and the entire college goes bonkers! Or Siddharth's entry in SOTY with ‘Kukkad Kamaal Da’ in the background? Well, you are definitely a fool if you think any of that is real. In reality, you enter college, find your class, attend it and then leave. Consider yourself lucky if you are able to befriend 5 students around.

2. Girls With Their Perfect Outfits

Alia/ Shanaya in SOTY or Kareena from K3G are the perfect examples of what not to expect from a real college. You might bump into random “Papa ki Pariyaan around but believe me, no one in their right mind thinks that highly of themselves and are always salon ready.

3. Backgrounds Songs for Every Occasion

In movies, the protagonist has a breakup, patch up, fight, entry, exit or come whatnot, there’s always a background song for every occasion. But, I guess, we all know that in reality, you won’t hear any flutes or trumpets when you fall in love, neither do you have any sad guitarists circling you to support you through tough times.

4. Teachers as Hot as Sushmita Sen

Imagine Sushmita Sen from Main Hoon Na, as your Accounts teacher. You think the class would be able to study then? Nope.

In reality, teachers aren’t wearing red georgette sarees with revealing blouses. They are actually really strict.

5. Classmates as Good Looking as Alia and Shah Rukh Khan

Nope. You won’t get classmates that look like Alia or Shah Rukh Khan. Simply No.

6. Sneaking in Girls Hostels at Night

Movies make sneaking into a girls hostel look so easy. You simply enter from an unguarded backdoor and party all night. However, in reality, boys are neither this desperate nor are they, this stupid.

7. College Trips= Losing Virginity

Hero goes on a college trip with heroin and they lose their virginity. So Filmy right? As much cool as it sounds, it's definitely not true. Some rumours of make out sessions might fly around but in reality, sex is a much far fetched thought.

8. Kick-Ass Fighting

In movies, people fight for literally the silliest of reasons and whatever the reason may be, the Hero always win! Firstly, people are not really over ready to fight in reality and even if there is a fight, the scars and wounds don’t magically disappear the next morning.

9. Endless Stereotypes

Bollywood has been promoting stereotype since forever such as Punjabis and Sardars are all about parties, South Indians always have some kind of accent and are shown all brainy and studious. Delhi boys are always pompous and brats. What’s up with all this stereotyping?

10. Getting Away With Everything

No matter how rude, arrogant or bratty the Hero is, no matter how many rules he breaks he gets away with anything and everything. But believe me, reality does not work like that. Detention and suspension are real and so is getting expelled!
