Article 26 Scholarship

Applicants are supposed to meet the eligibility criteria defined by the University of Sussex to get benefits of the Article 26 Scholarship. The very first step to get the scholarship is to take admissions at the University of Sussex in an undergraduate course.

• The first and foremost thing is that one must be offered a place for an undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex to be eligible for the scholarship.
• Must have a household income of under 55,737.50 USD.
• Other than this, one must be-
  • Be an asylum-seeker; or
  • Have been granted a temporary form of leave to remain as a result of an asylum application (e.g. limited leave to remain, humanitarian protection); or
  • Be a child or partner of an asylum seeker or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child.

Any applicant who fails to meet the above-mentioned eligibility criteria will be considered ineligible for the scholarship.

All the students seeking the Article 26 scholarship will have to apply online for the same. The application deadline for Article 26 scholarship is May 1, 2023. Candidates can refer to the below-mentioned steps to know about the complete application process:

Step 1: After opening the application link, candidates will be redirected to the application form for the Article 26 Scholarship.

Step 2: After filling the basic details in the application form, all the candidates will be required to fill the eligibility details including:

• Submission of the UCAS application
• Bachelor's degree for which the student has applied for.
• Current status of the student studying in the UK.
• Date of discretionary leave award to remain in the UK (if applicable)

Step 3: Applicants will be required to submit a “Statement of Purpose” of not more than 500 words. One can upload a statement of purpose in only doc, Docx, ODT, pdf, RTF, txt, and HTML formats. Also, the file size should not be more than 5MB.

Step 4: In the end, applicants are supposed to provide all necessary documents including evidence of current status in the UK (letter or Biometric Residence Permit Card) and proof of family income (P60, payslips, benefit notification letters, etc).

Applicants shortlisted for the Article 26 Scholarship then they will be contacted by the Scholarship Office of the University of Sussex. It should be noted that the scholarship decision will be informed to the applicant after the last date of application.

If a candidate’s application is shortlisted for scholarship, an anonymous version of the application will be shared with the scholarship selection panel for the final selection process. None of the identifying characteristics will be shared with the panel.
