UNDA International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarship

In the form of International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarshipss, the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) offers financial tuition assistance to high-achieving future students. The recipients of the scholarship program are rewarded with a 20% tuition fee waiver, for the duration of their UNDA undergraduate course.

  • Eligible candidates must be an international full fee-paying student, enrolling in first-year of University of Notre Dame Australia
  • Applicants are auto-considered for the Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarships, based on admission applications.
  • Recipients will have to incur additional expenses such as the cost of living, books, transportation, etc.
  • Selections will be purely based on the academic achievements of the applicants in high school.
  • Recipients must accept the scholarship within 21 days of receiving the scholarship offer letter.

Recipients of UNDA International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarships must note that they have to start their studies in the semester indicated on the offer letter. Deferral of admission will result in the cancellation of the award

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for UNDA International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarships, the following requirements have to be fulfilled by the applicants:

  • Commencing any UNDA undergraduate program for the first time; except:
    • Bachelors of Physiotherapy
    • Bachelors of Exercise and Sport Science 
  • Acceptance of admission to the University of Notre Dame Australia by the relevant deadline.
  • Eligible to apply for a Higher Education Sector Visa (Subclass 500). check Australia student visa eligibility.

Candidates are NOT eligible if they:  

  • Hold or are eligible to hold, permanent residency in Australia;  
  • Are studying or currently enrolled at the University of Notre Dame as part of a study abroad or any other program;  
  • The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient does not commence study in the session (semester) and year indicated in their offer. 
  • Had more than 200 units of credit or advanced standing awarded concerning the program they are commencing. 

Application Process

No separate application is required. All applicants who have submitted a complete application and been selected to study at the University of Notre Dame will be automatically considered by the selection committee for this scholarship. 

University of Notre Dame Australia admissions deadline for UG courses in 2021/22

  • The application deadline for the first semester is Sep 27, 2020 
  • The application deadline for the second semester is May 30. 2021 

Note: The Scholarship should not be held simultaneously with another scholarship awarded by the University or any other organization that covers the cost of tuition fees to study at the University. 


Selection Process

Candidates who meet the eligibility and selection criteria will have their applications presented to the Scholarship Committee for consideration against the selection criteria. All the applications will be reviewed by the selection committee at the University of Notre Dame. 

UNDA International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarship selection will be based on: 

  • Academic achievement 
  • Other information/supporting documents such as Entrance Test Scores

The committee will make recommendations to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, International in relation to the suitability of an applicant for the award. The decision made by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, International is final. 


Grant Details

In regards to forfeiting, there are various terms and conditions of the UNDA International Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarships. The scholarship will be forfeited if,  

  • Deferral of study and/or termination of enrolment into the UG course.
  • Failure to accept the admission and scholarship offer within 21 days
  • Failing to remain enrolled on a full-time basis in the initial program of study as confirmed on their University Offer of Admission;  
  • Transferred to another institution or transferred from full-time to part-time study or fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress 
  • Failur to provide up-to-date contact and/or financial details to the university or do not abide by the University’s deadlines for payment of tuition fees.
  • Want to Study Abroad on a University-affiliated placement or want to transfer to another university.

Furthermore, if the recipient completes their course program at the University before the expected end date, they will not be eligible for any payment of the scholarship which has not yet been paid.
