University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarships

University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarships, worth 15,000 CAD (8,62,115 INR), are awarded to incoming overseas students commencing undergraduate studies at the institution. Annually, two first-year students are shortlisted for University of Calgary scholarship.

  • The award is primarily a merit award though other areas of student’s achievements are considered
  • This Scholarship is renewable for upto 4-years of UG course, thereby, offering recipients a financial aid worth 60,000 CAD.
  • To be eligible for renewability, recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.60 (on scale of 4.00).
  • The University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship amount must be used towards the payment of tuition fees.

The award is awarded in the bid to recognize the hard work and excellent academic achievements of international students. Applications for the scholarship are requested alongside the admission application form.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who wants to be considered for University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship, must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be an international student paying tuition at overseas rate.
    • Must not be Canadian Permanent Residents Permit.
  • Level of Study: Enrolling in an UCalgary undergraduate degree program as a first year student.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must satisfy the university's ELP requirement for the chosen program. The acceptable English language tests are
    • TOEFL-iBT: 86
    • IELTS: 6.5
  • Renewability: Minimum GPA of 2.60 or above OR minimum 24.00 units of coursework

Application Process

Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria can apply for University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship along with their admission application.

How to Apply?

  1. Log on to the student account in the myUofC portal.
  2. Navigate to "My Financials" webpage and click on "Apply for Undergraduate Awards".
  3. Select the International Entrance Scholarship tap from the Undergraduate Awards Application Centre.
  4. Submit the necessary supporting documents
  5. Fill in the required information and submit the application

As a part of UCalgary admission application and scholarship application, candidates are required to submit the following programs.

  • Pre-qualification degree
  • Copies of academic transcripts
  • Certificates of English language proficiency (except exempted)
  • Statement of Purpose
  • ID page of the passport

Selection Process

The University’s selection committee evaluates all submitted applications and sorts out the two successful based on merit. While selecting the recipients, the university considers

  • Classroom participation and achievements
  • Extracurricular achievements
  • Community service and volunteer work

Recipients are notified of the selections in their UCalgary admission letter.


Grant Details

This scholarship program is one of the prestigious awards of the University of Calgary aimed at recognizing and rewarding outstanding accomplishments and exceptional performance of international students commencing their undergraduate studies at the university in the Fall term/semester.

The award is pegged at 15,000 CAD for the renewable category and 10,000 CAD for the non-renewable category. The fund is aimed at covering the tuition fee of the recipients. After the payment of the tuition fee, the leftover term as “Payout of Scholarship Funds” is paid directly to the recipient’s bank account.
