The Science International Scholarship by University of Queensland is an opportunity for international students commencing full-time studies. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UQ Science International Scholarship, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • Identify as an international student with valid Australian Student Visa
  • Demonstration of strong academic records and potential to maintain it.
  • Receive an unconditional offer of admission from the University of Queensland.
  • Have met the conditions of your offer by the scholarship’s closing date (you don’t need to accept your full offer by the scholarship application deadline)
  • Enrolling in a program administered by the UQ Faculty of Science.
  • Should be categorised as full-time and should be minimum 1 year duration.
  • Must be enrolling in the first semester, commencing from February/July.

Note: Dual degree programs under eligible subjects are also covered.


Application Process

The institution has a systematic process for the UQ Science International Scholarship. To apply, follow the process mentioned below:

  1. Apply for UG or PG program at University of Queensland
  2. Receive UQ Student ID Number and an admission offer.
  3. Complete and submit the online scholarship application form.
  4. Make sure to attach all necessary documents.

You'll need:

  • a personal statement demonstrating your capacity to create change and contribute to science

Make sure you attach all your supporting documents before you submit your application.

You’ll need to submit your online application by 13:00pm AEST on the closing date.

The university doesn’t acknowledge incomplete applications or those which are inaccurate or misleading.


Selection Process

All the applications are thoroughly reviewed by the selection committee at the University of Queensland. However, the final UQ Science International Scholarship recipients are selected by the faculty of science associate dean.

Selections are made, considering the following factors :

  • Previous academic records
  • Potential to create change and contribute to science.
  • Preference will be given to students belonging to diverse background

The scholarship recipients will be notified within four weeks of the scholarship closing date.

Terms and Conditions

  • Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered.
  • Students already enrolled at the UQ seeking program change are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Candidates enrolling in non-award, study abroad, or any other exchange programs are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Student defers study or fails to maintain full-time enrollment in the first semester of their study.
  • Transfers to a non-science program or withdraws from the current science program.
