University of Guelph International Entrance Scholarships are available for international students who are entering the university as freshmen. The University of Guelph has these scholarships as internal scholarships that are given to university students only.

Eligibility Criteria

All international students entering the university for the first time after completing their secondary studies are eligible for University of Guelph International Entrance Scholarships.

The only eligibility requirement for the scholarship is that students must be enrolling in a full-time undergraduate program commencing in Fall or Winter semester.

Furthermore, students must submit their application for admission at University of Guelph before the specified deadline. It is on the basis of the elements of their application package that selections will be made.

Note: The applicant should also keep a constant track of the application, so in case any additional document or information is sought can be provided to the university.


Selection Process

The university will review each applicant for admission purposes and the scholarships together. Since University of Guelph International Entrance Scholarships are majorly merit-based, an applicant’s academic record will play an important role.

Other significant factors taken into consideration during the selection process include:

  • Supplementary documents like Statement of Purpose and Letter of recommendation.
  • Standardised test scores like IELTS and TOEFL
  • Answers given by the applicants in the scholarship application.

The decision of scholarship is conveyed along with the admission outcome of the application.

Terms and Conditions

  • The student has to be the fresher and first time student of the first year at the university as full time, a full fee-paying international student in any subject area.
  • The student has to complete the admission formalities for the complete academic year as the scholarship won for the first year has to apply to both fall and winter tuition fees for the same year.
  • The scholarship is renewable only if the applicant scores 80% or more in the semester cleared prior to the next installment becoming due for receipt of the scholarship.
  • The applicant is not allowed to defer the disbursal of the scholarship. In case any student defers joining the university the scholarship shall be available only after considering the applicants of the next year.

Scholarship Award Value

In the first year, the student may get scholarships ranging from 5500 CAD to 8500 CAD. The slabs are as follows:

As the university does not allow the deferment of scholarship, once the applicant is able to successfully receive the scholarship, he/she needs to avail the same after reaching the university and maintaining the scores of 80% or higher throughout the study period.
