UTS Science International Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship for Excellence

The UTS Science International Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship for Excellence is awarded to high achieving international students for giving them a mandatory start to their higher education in Australia. The scholarship is aimed to provide support to the commencing postgraduate students at the Faculty of Science of the university. Selected students will be awarded financial assistance of AUD 5,000 for the tuition fees of the first session of study.

  • The selected scholars will receive AUD 5,000 towards the tuition fees for the first session of the postgraduate coursework program at UTS Faculty of Science.
  • Approximately 16 students will be awarded the Scholarship.
  • The payment is limited to a single time and will be reflected as a fee reduction in the tuition fee deposit required for the first session.
  • This scholarship is applicable to all the postgraduate degree courses offered by the Faculty of Science at UTS.

Eligibility Criteria

  • International students (except for Australia and New Zealand) are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible for those who are willing to pursue a master’s by coursework degree program within the Faculty of Science at the university.
  • Students must commence full-time studies on campuses.
  • Students must complete a qualification equivalent to an Australian year 12.
  • Students must hold a bachelor’s degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification.
  • Students must have studied the following subjects or their equivalent:
    • One pharmacology subject
    • Two chemistry subjects
    • One biochemistry subject
    • One human physiology subject
    • One mathematics or statistics subject
  • Students must have excellent academic achievement.
  • If the student’s national language is not English, they must satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement with one of the following tests:
    • IELTS with a minimum score of 7.5 (writing score of 7.0)
    • TOEFL with a minimum score of 102 (score of 24 for reading and listening, 23 for speaking, and 27 for writing)
    • PTE with a minimum score of 73 (score of 65 in each subtest)

Note: Students enrolling in a UTS transnational program are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.


Application Process

  • There is no need for an additional application for the scholarship.
  • Enthusiastic students, who will enroll in a master by a coursework degree program at the university, will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

Documents Required

  • Certified copies of academic transcripts and statement of completion.
  • Updated Resume.
  • Copy of passport.
  • Scorecard of English Language Proficiency test.

Note: A medical statement from a registered doctor (only for differently-abled applicants), and Copies of letter of guarantee documents from sponsor (Sponsored applicants only).


Selection Process

  • Interview of the applicants will be conducted.
  • Selections of candidates will be made on the basis of academic achievement in the most recent tertiary qualification recognized by UTS.
  • Selected students will receive confirmation of granting of the Scholarship at the time when a full offer of the enrolment is made.
  • The tuition fee payment will be made directly to the Recipient’s UTS fees account after the census date of the first enrolled session.

Ongoing Recipient Eligibility Criteria

  • The scholarship holder must continue to be enrolled as a full-time (24 credit points) international student in the applied faculty of Science.
  • The recipient must not withdraw from the approved UTS program.
  • The documents or information provided by the recipient must be true and accurate.
  • The scholarship recipient must comply with all of UTS’s rules, policies, and procedures.
  • The Recipient must inform the UTS International Office of any changes in circumstances that would make him/her ineligible for continuation of the Scholarship.

Scholarship Termination

  • If the recipient ceases to meet the eligibility requirements.
  • If the recipient violated any conditions of the scholarship.
  • If the recipient is found guilty of any misconduct.

Grant Details

The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) invites applications for the UTS Science International Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship for Excellence 2020 from postgraduate coursework aspirants. The University of Technology Sydney was founded in its current form in 1988 and ranked 1st in Australia. It is a public research university that is also regarded as one of the world’s leading young universities. Payment of this scholarship amount will be reflected as the fee reduction for the tuition fee deposited by the selected students for the first session of study. The scholarship cannot be transferred, deferred, or redeemed for cash.
