A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship

A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship is a financial aid provided annually to the students pursuing a full-time UG Program at the Waterloo. The scholarship is offered by the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo.

  • For A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship students must be in year four of their program.
  • Applicable for only the Accounting and Financial Management program at Waterloo.
  • Recipients of A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship will be awarded 1,000 CAD.
  • Annually two recipients are selected for the scholarship, based on academic merit.
  • The scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the Winter term at the University of Waterloo.

A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship award amount must be used for the payment of tuition fees only. Applicants and recipients must also note that it is a non-renewable program.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who want to secure A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship must also fulfill admission requirements at the University Of Waterloo.

  • Enrolled in the fourth year of a UG program in the School of Accounting and Financial Management.
  • Excellent cumulative marks in courses in undergraduate tax sequences AFM 361 and 461; or AFM 362, 363, and 462).

A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship program doesn’t have any restrictions in terms of student’s nationality and residency. Both domestic and international students will be considered and given equal consideration.


Application Process

There is no separate application process specified by the university for the A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship.

Since the scholarship program is designed for the continuing students, they will be automatically considered for it. Condition is that they fulfill the eligibility requirements and maintain their enrollment status as a full-time student throughout their Waterloo UG program.


Selection Process

Students are considered for A.B. McKie Memorial Scholarship based on academic excellence. The eligibility requirements state the minimum cumulative scores required. However, preference will be given to students who surpass those requirements.

The selection committee may evaluate academic documents submitted at the time of admission and also average scores of the last three years of the UG program in accounting and financial management.

Students are then shortlisted and awarded with an amount of 1000 CAD.
