University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship- Eligibility, Application Process and Selection criteria

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) intends to support meritorious Masters and Doctoral students of the university. Annually, the university’s Faculty of Graduate Studies provides around CAD 2 million in the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship program. The fellowship is applicable to all students at the University of Manitoba.

  • UMGF master’s fellowships are valued at CAD 14,000 per year for either 12 or 24 months.
  • UMGF Doctoral fellowships are valued at CAD 18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36, 48 months.
  • Applications for the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship are administered by each department.
  • Eligible applicants must have a GPA score of 3.0 or higher, at the time of admission to a Manitoba graduate program.

The maximum UMGF support for any fellowship recipient is five years (60 months). Meaning, the student who received the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship for two years in their Master’s Coursework will only be eligible for three years of UMGF funding at the doctoral level. This gives them an excellent opportunity to financially support themselves while studying in Canada.
