Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship

Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship is offered to students who have academically excelled in their UG degree and are now beginning their studies at the University of Melbourne. Annually, 150 scholarships are awarded to domestic and international students opting for Melbourne master’s programs.

  • Recipients of the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship are awarded 5,000 AUD to 20,000 AUD.
  • Scholarship program is only applicable to the Melbourne School of Engineering.
  • Eligible applicants are evaluated on the basis of their admission applications to the University of Melbourne.
    • Deadline for the upcoming session is March 21, 2023.
  • Award payment is made in half-yearly installments for the duration of the program.
    • Paid for a maximum for up to 2 years.
  • No preference is given to either domestic or international students for the scholarship.

Recipients of the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship are expected to pass all the subjects with at least 65% WAM. Failure will result in the cancellation of the scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship are given below:

  • Applied for admission at the University of Melbourne, on time
  • Enrolling in a full-time Melbourne masters program at its School of Engineering
  • Excellent academic scores in the undergraduate degree

The Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship doesn’t have requirements in terms of citizenship. Both domestic and international students, fulfilling the eligibility criteria, are considered for the scholarship.

However, international students must ensure that they obtain their Australian student visa at the earliest.


Application Process

The university has not established any separate application process or system for the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship.

Applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered at the time of their admission to the University of Melbourne. Therefore, all candidates are advised to carefully complete their admission applications and submit the forms before the deadline.

Selection Process

The selection committee for the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship comprises of experts from the department and university management.

While selections are primarily based on an applicant’s academic grades and potential, there are other factors (elements of admission application) that might influence the selection criteria. Some of these factors may include,

  • References and recommendations
  • Attempted tests to study in Australia (applicable for international students only)
  • Work experience
  • Statement of Purpose

After a comprehensive evaluation, the committee will shortlist up to 150 recipients for the scholarship. The recipients of the Melbourne School of Engineering Scholarship will receive the award payment in bi-annual installments.
