Charles Darwin University Scholarships

Charles Darwin University Scholarships are awarded to incoming international students commencing undergraduate or postgraduate programs at the university. The wide range of scholarships offered by CDU offers students a chance to pursue higher education in Australia with substantial financial support.

Under CDU Sydney Scholarships, the university offers four different types of tuition fee waiver awards

  1. Vice Chancellor’s International High Achievers Scholarships (25% or 50%)
  2. CDU Global Excellence Award (50%)
  3. CDU Global Leader Award (25%)
  4. CDU Global Achiever Award (15%)

Applicants have to complete a separate application form to be considered for Charles Darwin University Scholarships Scholarships. Since the university awards a limited number of scholarships for CDU undergraduate and graduate programs, applicants with exceptional academic records and achievements are given preference.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Charles Darwin University Scholarships, prospective international applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • Applicants must begin study in the UG or PG course at CDU.
  • Applicants must be an international student on a student visa.
  • Applicants must meet English language entry requirements and admission requirements at CDU.
  • Applicants must not hold any other scholarship from an Australian or foreign sponsoring agency.

Apart from this, they must hold a minimum overall score in their highest completed qualification. The percentage required for different awards covered under the CDU Sydney Scholarships is as follows.

Application Process

Separate application form along with admission application must be submitted to the Charles Darwin University to be considered for the scholarship. Along with application form, they must attach

  1. Personal statement of about 500 words stating why they deserve the scholarship
  2. Two reference letters.

Note: No application is required for the CDU Global Achiever Award, all eligible candidates will be considered until no. of seats are filled.


Selection Process

Once the applications are received by the university, next comes the selection process. The selection committee at the university will review the applications case-by-case.

The selection for the recipients of the Charles Darwin University Scholarships will be based on the following parameters :

  • Overall score in their highest completed qualification
  • Personal statement
  • Two referees reports (academic or professional) supporting scholarship application.

The outcome of the application will be notified by email within a month of the closing date of the scholarship.

Ongoing Eligibility

In order to retain the Charles Darwin University Scholarships, the recipient must meet all the conditions listed below:

  • Continue to be an international student liable to pay fees.
  • Pay their portion of the tuition fees on or before the payment due date of each semester.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress each semester with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and with no fail grade in any unit.
  • Maintain a full-time enrolment of 40 credit points (0.5 EFTSL) each semester or
  • Have the approval to reduce their study load or take a leave of absence for the semester.

Grant Details

International students who wish to study in Australia at CDU can apply for Charles Darwin University Scholarships. Applicants who wish to begin their UG or PG studies from Charles Darwin University are eligible to apply.

This award offers tuition fee waiver from 15% to 50% to the recipients of the award. The list of scholarship/award along with the percentage covering tuition fees of the recipients is mentioned below:

Recipients must note that scholarship is neither transferable for cash nor refundable and cannot be transferred to another person, semester, course, or year.
