U of T Karta Scholars Program

U of T Karta Scholars Program is offered by the University of Toronto (U of T) to incoming Indian students participating in the Karta Initiative. Students beginning their UG studies in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Engineering and Faculty of Arts are eligible.

  • The award will cover the fee differential between domestic and international tuition fees.
  • The average tuition fee of domestic students is 6100 CAD and for an international student is 53, 290 CAD.
  • Recipients will get approximately 47,800 CAD as a scholarship amount.
    • This may change depending upon fees for the next three years of the UG course.
  • U of T Karta Scholars Program award is renewable for up to 4 years if recipients maintain GPA of 1.50 or more during the course of study.

No separate application form is required to be submitted for consideration. Eligible candidates will be automatically evaluated for the award.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria given below to be able to receive the U of T Karta Scholars Program award.

  • Applicants must be International students from India participating in the Karta Initiatives
  • They must be enrolled at the Faculty of Arts and Science or Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at U of T.
  • They must be beginning their UG studies in any program that falls under the faculties mentioned above.
  • They must be attending the University of Toronto on a study permit.

Application Process

No external application form is required to be submitted by the candidates. They will be evaluated based on their admission application sent to the university.


Selection Process

The selection for the U of T Karta Scholars Program is based on academic performance and participation in Karta Initiatives.


Grant Details

International students who have participated in Karta Initiatives are eligible to apply for the U of T Karta Scholars Program.

  • Students must be enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of applied sciences and engineering to be eligible.

The award can be renewed for up to four years if the recipients of the program maintain GPA of 1.50 during the course of study at the University of Toronto.
