Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program

The main aim of Sydney Scholars India Scholarships Program is to promote and strengthen the engagement between the University and India in their investment related to research, partnership with Industry partners as well as strengthening the commitment to education for the academically outstanding students to attain their full potential.

The Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program worth of 500,000 USD is available only for the Indian students to assist in deepening their bond with India. The scholarship is available to Indian students who have registered themselves in either Undergraduate or graduate courses at the University of Sydney.

Facilities of the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program are are as follows:

  • Aa total of 28 Scholarships will be awarded to the academically outstanding Indian students under the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program
  • 3x40,000 AUD for any USYD undergraduate degree of maximum 4 years
  • 10x20,000 AUD first year scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • 15x10,000 AUD first year scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students

Eligibility Criteria

The aspiring candidate who wishes to avail Sydney India Scholarship Program must attain the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

  • Be a current resident as well as a citizen of India
  • Have successfully received an offer of admission to any UG or PG courses from the University of Sydney.
  • Recipients beginning a second degree at the University of Sydney are qualified to apply for this Scholarship.

Note: The candidates are not eligible if they are a permanent citizen of Australia or if the candidate earlier have earned a University of Sydney India Scholarship.

Ongoing Eligibility for Sydney India Scholarship Applicants

  • To renew the scholarship, each recipient has to maintain a minimum semester average mark (SAM) of 65 and have no outstanding fees.
  • Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

Application Process

The ideal candidate must register themselves for admissions at University of Sydney before applying for the Sydney Scholars India Scholarships.The recipients can apply for the scholarship program only when the applicants have obtained their acceptance letter.

The applicants must complete the Admission offer in all respects by the cut-off date of their scholarship offer round. The scholarship offer will be revoked if they fail to abide by the same. It is highly essential for the applicants to put forward a few supporting documents which can be mentioned below:

  • An updated CV
  • Proof of residence
  • Documents related to the candidate’s previous academic results.

Selection Process

  • This highly prestigious Scholarship will be granted on the basis of academic records along with a personal statement evaluated from a recipient’s application form.
  • The details provided in the application form also plays a crucial role in obtaining this scholarship.
  • The selection committee which comprises two academic nominees and two non-academic nominees made by the Vice-Principal (External Relations) will award the Scholarship to the selected candidates.

Terms and Conditions

Applicants should conform to the rules in the Higher Education Support Act 2003, for being international students. Moreover, this is a one-time scholarship and will not be renewed.
