Pittsburgh University Scholarship

Pittsburgh University Scholarship is designed for the students of the university pursuing UG studies. It is designed for the students with exceptional grades in high school, with preference given to those who in the top 5% class ranking.

  • Students enrolling in any UG program at the University of Pittsburgh are eligible.
  • Nearly 25% of admitted freshmen are provided with the Pittsburgh University Scholarship each year.
  • The scholarship amount ranges from USD 2,000 to USD 25,000 per year.
  • Rewarded students should maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA.

Pittsburgh University Scholarship is given by the support of generous donors of the university, contributing to the scholarship funding.

Eligibility Criteria

The university has not issued any specific eligibility criteria for the Pittsburgh University Scholarships.

However, on the basis of the profiles of the recipient scholarship recipients, the eligibility requirements are compiled below:

  • Minimum SAT score of 1480 or a composite score of 33 in ACT
  • Challenging high school curriculums which should consist of AP/IB/Honors courses
  • Overall ‘A’ average
  • Top 5% class rank (if applicable)
  • Enrolled in a full-time UG Program at the University of Pittsburgh.

Application Process

Prospective applicants of Pittsburgh University Scholarships are auto-considered if they are eligible. This is done on the basis credentials submitted at the time of admission at the University of Pittsburgh.


Selection Process

There is high competitiveness of the Pittsburgh University Scholarship. Admission applications of the scholarship applicants are analyzed by a panel of selectors at the University of Pittsburgh.

Factors Affecting the Scholarship Selection Decision

  • Weighted grade point average
  • Class rank (if applicable)
  • Strength of curriculum
  • Results of the ACT or SAT.

Apart from this, selections are also based on student's activities outside of the classroom which includes athletics, leadership positions, community service, etc.

The final notification comes between late- November to March 1.

Ongoing Eligibility

Recipients have to maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average, along with the terms and conditions of the award to get the Pittsburgh University Scholarship continuing benefit.

Pittsburgh University Scholarship: Terms and Conditions

An applicant must understand and accept the terms and conditions of the University Scholarships carefully, before applying for the scholarship

  • To confirm, recipients should submit the USD 300 enrollment fee before May 1.
  • Students must be enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree program.
  • Students must maintain a minimum of 12 credits -18 credits per term.
  • Aid is available for up to eight full-time terms of UG degree.
  • Students who enroll for more than 18 credits/ term will be responsible for their additional tuition charges.

Pittsburgh University Scholarship payments will be made during the fall and spring terms. Furthermore, the scholarship committee reserves the right to modify/adjust a scholarship award.
