As the name suggests, the UTS Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based award offered by the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) to the young aspirants seeking admission in any undergraduate programs. The aim of providing this scholarship is to attract international students from all over the world to study in Australia.

  • Open to international students commencing studies in autumn or spring 2020.
  • A candidate enrolled in any undergraduate course at UTS is eligible
  • Approximately 70 students are awarded this scholarship every year.
  • The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two years. Extension of scholarship duration is not possible
  • Award amount of 10,000 AUD is awarded towards the tuition fees

Eligibility Criteria

The UTS Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship is applicable for candidates enrolling in undergraduate programs at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Applicants must:

  • be an international candidate
  • must remain an international student in the sessions for which the scholarship has been awarded
  • meet all the qualifying requirements needed for admissions in the selected undergraduate course
  • have completed qualification equivalent to year 12 of Australian education no longer than 3 years from the commencement of the course
  • not be a recipient of any other scholarship or should not be funded by the government
  • be enrolled in a full-time course at UTS. Part-time or distance learning candidates are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • must not be enrolled in a UTS transnational program.

Application Process

The candidates do not need to fill any separate application for the scholarship. All the international candidates applying for admissions to UTS in an undergraduate course will be directly considered for the scholarship by UTS. The applications for Autumn (March) sessions are now open for 2020.


Selection Process

The selection process for UTS Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarships is totally based on academic merit. The qualification scores that candidates submitted while applying for the undergraduate courses will be used as the basis of the scholarship grant.

Applicants must make sure to submit all the required documents for admission including academic transcripts, test scores, supporting documents, proof of relevant work experience (if any), completed admission application, etc.


Grant Details

UTS Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarships awards AUD 10,000 to international students who want to study in Australia enrolled in a UG program at UTS. The amount of scholarship value will be given in two equal installments of AUD 5,000 each and shall be used only for the payment of tuition fees.

  • The scholarship will be given in the first two sessions which means the amount can be used for the payment of the fees of the initial two sessions only.
  • The candidate must ensure that they maintain the results upto the mark during the scholarship duration. If the scores fall below the average passing marks, then the scholarship may be suspended or terminated.
  • The ongoing recipient eligibility criteria for UTS Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship includes-
    • Academic progress-
      • recipients of the scholarship are required to maintain satisfactory academic performance for the 2 year duration of the scholarship.
      • if the average scores are not achieved, the scholarship can be suspended or terminated
    • UTS Enrollment-
      • recipient must continue to be a student of UTS
      • must be enrolled as a full-time UG student
      • scholarship is not transferable to another UTS program
    • Leave/ Deferral/ Course Withdrawal
      • All deferral or suspension requests will be approved by the University of Technology, Sydney
      • in case of deferral or withdrawal from the university, the scholarship will be terminated
  • International applicants on a student visa to Australia must comply with the terms and policies set up by the University of Technology, Sydney.
