The Benavitch Scholarship is financial support awarded to deserving students at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge, at the credit of the generosity of Late Maurice and Natalie Benavitch. The scholarship is meant for candidates who wish to pursue higher studies in the UK enrolling in MBA, MFin, EMBA or Ph.D. at Cambridge Judge Business School.

  • A total of five scholarships with amount value of £15,000 is awarded

Applicants for Benavitch Scholarships are required to complete a separate scholarship application by March 6, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Benavitch Scholarships, applicants are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the University of Cambridge.

  • Domestic and international students can both apply for the scholarship
  • Intended admission applications must be made for programs that include-
  • Applicant must have obtained
    • a first-class degree
    • a GPA of at least 3.7 (out of 4) or equivalent from a recognized university
    • a minimum GMAT score of 700 (MBA only)
    • full-time post-graduation work experience (3 years for MBA and EMBA or 2 years for MFin).

Application Process

To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicants must apply for admissions to Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) for the required course(MBA, EMBA, MFin, or Ph.D.). A separate scholarship application would be required by the applicant. No incomplete or late applications will be accepted under any circumstances.

The covering letter submitted must not be more than 300 words. The letter must contain details about the applicant’s thoughts on his/her expected contribution to business and society in the future.

Note: Scholarship applicants must accept the admission offer from the CJBS before March 6, 2023 to proceed with the scholarship.

Applicants enrolled in the Cambridge Ph.D. program must send In the documents at grad.admin@caths.cam.ac.uk. The academic references must be sent separately to the same email handle, the subject being – “ reference for the applicant’s name - Benavitch Ph.D. scholarships.


Selection Process

After the application form has been detailed and received by the Cambridge Judge Business School by March 6, 2023, a careful analysis of the application forms will be made. The awards will then be announced by the board, tentatively by the end of March. The main criteria for selection for Benavitch Scholarships is academic merit.

Note: It is deemed that after the selection of a candidate for the award, the student will become a full-time member of St. Catherine’s College. In case the student is already a member of another Cambridge College, the scholarship will be awarded on the condition that the particular student transfers himself to St. Catherine’s College as a full-time member, failure of which can lead to a withdrawal of the award.


Grant Details

Up to five Benavitch Scholarships worth £10,000 are awarded to students looking for pursuing their postgraduate studies in the UK at the University of Cambridge. The scholarship amount is awarded to all students who successfully complete their admission process at the Cambridge Judge Business School.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must enroll in an MBA, EMBA, MFin or Ph.D. program at the Cambridge Judge Business School. Scholarship applications are available from January 1, 2020 to February 25, 2020. Applicants must make sure to complete the applications by the following deadline.

Benavitch Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the program. Scholarships are conditional on the admission offer taken by the applicant to one of the eligible programs at the University of Cambridge.
