Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College

Macquarie Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College, Kolkata is offered to students applying for PG programs at the Faculty of Arts. This is a tuition fee waiver program where the recipients will get up to 50% tuition fee reduction at Macquarie University.

  • Indian citizens who graduated from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata are eligible to apply.
    • Must have a distinction in UG degrees.
  • including double degrees with other Faculties such as Master of International Relations/Master of International Business.
  • Annually two students are selected for Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College.

Applicants who will begin their studies in session 2 are eligible to apply for the Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College. 

This is a very limited scholarship, so we encourage you to accept your offer and scholarship early to avoid disappointment.

Students must remember that the university will only pay partial tuition fee. All other expenses such as the Australian student visa fee, travel expenses, accommodation are to be covered by the recipients only.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must complete their undergraduate degree from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata to be eligible for the scholarship.

Apart from that, Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College requires applicants to fulfill the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • Citizen and current resident of India
  • Obtained a distinction grade in GPA (approximate GPA should be 5.0 out of 7.0)
  • Fulfilled the admission requirements and English proficiency requirements specified by the university.
  • Achieve a minimum WAM equivalent of 65 for Postgraduate applications; or a minimum ATAR equivalent of 85 for Undergraduate applications.
  • Commence study in the session and year indicated in your scholarship letter of offer.
  • Apply for full-time PG programs in the Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University.

Applicants must be ready to begin their studies at Macquarie University within 12 months of graduating from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata.

To be considered for this scholarship applicants are required to complete a nomination form and hold a valid offer letter to study at Macquarie University. As part of the application form you must:

  • Applicants must complete an application form and type “VCIS" in the Scholarship Name field.
  • Enter your student number as outline on your Macquarie University Offer Letter.

Selection Process

Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College requires exceptional academic brilliance of the students.

Factors influencing the selection decision are:

  • Academic merit
  • Scores of tests to study in Australia, like TOEFL, GRE, etc.
  • Completion of application on time
  • Ready to join Macquarie University within 12 months

Candidates are required to furnish proof of the offer to study in a full-time post-graduate program at the Macquarie University, to St Xavier’s College.

Grant Details

The Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College is a result of an MoU signed between St Xavier’s and Macquarie University. With this, St Xavier’s College provides an opportunity for students who wish to pursue higher education in Australia at Macquarie University.

Two scholarships are awarded under Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College, covering up to 50% tuition fees of the recipients.

  • Recipients are obligated to start their program as per the Letter of Offer.
  • Maintain a full-time enrolment by taking up a course load of a minimum of 8 standard units per academic year.
  • Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship- St Xavier’s College recipients are required to live on campus.
  • If a scholar withdraws from the program before graduating, he/ she might be liable to refund the scholarship amount.
