SIA Youth Scholarship: Eligibility, Applications, Selection Process

SIA Youth Scholarship

SIA Youth Scholarship is a program that has been designed for the Students of India, China, and the students from all the nations of the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN). This scholarship is awarded to bright students for completing their Pre-University level studies in Singapore.

The scholarship is distributed for two years and is renewable annually only if the student maintains a satisfactory academic record. Some of the highlights of SIA Youth Scholarship program are:

  • This is a merit scholarship that is based on the performance of the candidates in the previous courses.
  • The selected students are granted funding in the following aspects:
    • Tuition fees
    • Examination fees
    • Living expenses
    • Medical benefits
    • Accident Insurance Cover
  • Recipients will be awarded Singapore- Cambridge General Certificate of Advanced Level (GCE “A” Level).
  • There is no fixed number for scholarships awarded and it changes each year based on the competition.
  • The selection process for the SIA Youth Scholarship comprises of three stages: 
    • Academic Record
    • Selection Test
    • Selection Interview

The scholarship decisions are announced in the month of November and the application process begins in the month of June. For the upcoming SIA youth scholarship 2023, the deadlines are yet to be announced.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who wish to receive the SIA Youth Scholarship must fulfill the following criteria in order to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India, China, or any of the ASEAN countries.
  • Age: Student must be in the age group of 17 – 19 years.
  • Academic Qualification:
    • Must have completed their Matriculation a year before the year of application.
    • Must have a strong academic record. They should have secured at least 85 % or Minimum of Grade A with English as First Language.

NOTE: In 2022, the application process was open only for the Indian students with the eligibility criteria mentioned above.


Application Process

Application process of the SIA youth scholarship is completely online and any other kind of form stands disqualified. The applications can be submitted on the official scholarship page.

Candidates need to log in using their Email ID and submit the correct details that are asked in the application form before submitting the documents. Here is the list of documents that are required during the online application process.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Identity Proof - Passport etc.
  • Transcripts of class IX and X

In case original documents are not in English, they must be accompanied by a certified translation of the documents.

The application deadline for the 2022 scholarship session is yet to be announced. However, given the pattern, the process begins in the month of June and lasts for approximately 30 days.


Selection Process

SIA Youth Scholarship is awarded to students after a rigorous selection procedure of three stages:

Step I: After the submission of the form, each scholarship application goes through initial screening for the Academic record. Most of the students are screened out at this step.
Step II: Shortlisted candidates go through the Selection Test. In this, students are tested on Maths, General Ability/ Mental Ability, and some English Language Questions.

  • The admit card will be issued two to three weeks before the examination.
  • The Maths section is tough as questions are asked even of Standard 11 level.
  • The test is conducted in Delhi in September

Step III: Students who clear the test are invited for an interview session. Notifications for the same are sent one week prior to the interviews. The interviews are conducted in October.

Only selected candidates are notified further. If you do not receive any notification regarding the Test or Interview, it is most likely that you have not passed through the first screening.
