How is XLRI compared to IIM B and C?

XLRI usually scores right after IIM B and C. If you are interested in Marketing or Finance, you should definitely choose IIM B or C. These have better brand recognition and at least 10-15 companies visit the campus placements of IIM B and C which don’t come to XLRI.
Hower, XLRI HRM is the best Human Resources course available in the country. In terms of alumni and career opportunities, it is way better than IIM B and C.

I have a friend who is an alumnus of XLRI and here is his insight.
- XLRI has a smaller campus and batch strength as compared to IIM B and C.
- The opportunities available for the top 30-40 students at IIM B and IIM C are not available for students at XLRI. And even if they do exits, it is in single digit. But if we compare the opportunities available for average students it is more or less the same for XLRI and IIM B, C.
- It is quite obvious that you will enjoy certain perks at IIM B and C which you won’t have at XLRI.
- XLRI has a large alumni network and well-established brand value but it still has a long way to go to be compared to IIM B and C.
- In terms of academic rigor, XLRI will probably top.
- Campus life at these three institutes is unique.
So, IIM A/B/C can give you a very good head start. It's not that you will be unable to accomplish it at all if you are at XLRI, but it will more difficult.
