Studied CAD CAM at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (2017)

The placement scenario at NIT Hamirpur is quite good. Although the overall placement scenario across different departments changes from year to year. While most of the companies recruit B.Tech graduates, there are only a few companies who offer placements to M.Tech students.

In B.Tech, most of the students who get placed are either from CSE or ECE branch. Around 95 per cent of the students from CSE branch get placed which is the highest in any branch. In Mechanical and Civil branches 80 to 90 per cent of the total students get placed, while in electrical the percentage is around 70 per cent. It is pertinent to note that the Chemical Engineering department witnesses least placements from core companies, which is around 50-50 per cent.

However, in the background of such impressive B.Tech placements, the overall scenario of placements for M.Tech students presents a dismal picture. In 2016-17 while 83 per cent students in B.Tech got placed in reputed companies, in M.Tech branch only 17 students got placed out of the 189 eligible candidates.

The average CTC offered for B.Tech is around 5.5 LPA, the highest CTC can reach as high as 27 LPA. For M.Tech courses, the average CTC offered is around 3.8 LPA, while the highest CTC goes upto 7 LPA. So, on an overall scale, the placement scenario in B.Tech courses is exceptional, while the same is not the case for M.Tech courses.
