How is XLRI as compared to IIM A, B, C and L in terms of reputation and placements' mean salary package?
XLRI is among the most reputed business schools in the country.
- It has been ranked among the top 5 management institutes in the country across all parameters. XLRI ranking - 8 for MBA by NIRF 2021. For HR specialization, it is considered to be the best in the country.
- It has maintained an excellent placement track record over the years. During the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 24 LPA. The ROI is great since the cost of PGDM is around INR 11 lakhs/Year.
- There were around 108 recruiters visiting the campus placements. 23 new recruiters participated in this placement season. There were also PSUs like Power Finance Corporation and GAIL.
- Microsoft, P&G, Aditya Birla Group, ITC, The Boston Consulting Group, Accenture Strategy are some of the major recruiters that frequent the placement drive.

IIM ABC is in a completely different league as compared to XLRI. This is true across most parameters and any domains in the BM course at least.
If you are comparing based on the quality and quantity of opportunities and the networks you can get from IIM ABC, those are definitely better.
Coming to a comparison between IIM L and XLRI, if you know you can be in the top 25 at IIM L, you will get better access to all opportunities. But if you land up somewhere in the middle, a smaller batch size like that at XLRI will definitely help you a lot.
Excluding the top 25 to 30 offers, you will see that the opportunities at Lucknow and XLRI are somewhat similar. In HR specifically, XLRI does much better based on placements.

If you think you can make a really good profile and ensure you work hard enough to build it, IIM L is the place you should go. If not, XLRI is a much safer option.
