Studied Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) (2017)

IIT Guwahati has one of the most beautiful campuses in India; set in the bank of the Brahmaputra. The environment of the campus is ideal for academics.

  • Hostel life: There are 12 hostels within the campus with single-seat accommodation. The hostels also accommodate recreational activities. All of the hostels have the basic necessities i.e. a mess, a canteen, a juice center, a stationery shop, a library, a TV room, a sports room (for indoor games), and laundry facilities.
  • Infrastructure Facilities: High-speed internet is also one of the pros of IITG campus life. There is a commercial complex that has all the basic necessities for the students. There is a luxurious guest house facility for guests and parents of students. There is also an on-campus hospital for medical emergencies. It is supervised by three specialized medical officers.
  • Clubs: Beyond academics, campus life also gives opportunities for extra-curricular growth. There are various sports, cultural and welfare clubs for the students. The Students’ Gymkhana Council is the body that manages the extra-curricular, co-curricular activities, the welfare of the students, and their stay on the campus.
  • Fests: Techniche is the technical and management fest organized in the institute. The three other events held every year are ‘Alcheringa’, ‘Manthan’, and ‘Advaya’. ‘Alcheringa’ is the annual cultural festival where over 350 colleges from the entire country take part. ‘Manthan’ is the inter-hostel cultural competition while ‘Advaya’ is the inter-departmental competition series.

The campus is not near the city. There are many ways to travel to any part of Guwahati. Some buses make regular trips from Lakhtokia in the city to the IITG Campus. Alternate travel means include cabs and taxi services.
