Due to Covid, MDI took PI online for the academic year 2021. There are usually two professors in the interview panel.

The interview starts with an introduction. There will be questions based on your past academics and work experience. You can also expect general questions like -

What is your CAT percentile?
Was this the first time you took CAT, if not what was your percentile in previous attempts?
What other calls do you have?
What are your hobbies?

There will be questions regarding current affairs and news as well. So, keep yourself updated about the current happenings around the world.

Studied Instrumentation Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2020)

During my sister’s interview, there was a group of 10 people. Her profile included a CAT score of 99.63 in 2017 with 88.1% in B. Tech electronics and instrumentation from NIT Rourkela. The interview was conducted by two panelists, a male in his 50’s and a woman in her 20’s.

She was asked whether co-operatives are losing relevance in this globalized economy where she wrote about Amul and Rural markets.
Further, they also asked questions about GD, FDI, Agro Economy, Competition from Global Companies, and SAARC nations.
She was asked about her experience with Tata Steel and the industry and whether she was comfortable with electronics or steel. Her response was both.
They also asked about her favorite subject to which she replied Analog electronics.
She also shared some of her knowledge on control systems and told them about the applications of the same.

Coincidentally, they also repeated a question that was asked last year in the same interview given by her. A few questions based on investments were also discussed and she gave her honest opinions on the same.

Fortunately, in the end, the job was bagged. Overall, it is suggested to go prepared and have good knowledge about your field, have confidence and you will do well.
