What are the strict rules at Amrita engineering colleges?

There are certain basic rules like no ragging, no smoking, no alcohol, etc. in addition to these, there are certain strict rules for the students which are as follows. 

• To leave the college, you have to apply for a pass 24 hours from leaving your college and there are 2 passes per month for each student. You can apply more than twice if you have a valid reason and they will let you leave. 
• An emergency pass can also be availed for which you need to write an application to the hostel warden mentioning your reason and your parents are needed to talk to the warden over a phone call. 
• Non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited inside the campus and if you get caught doing the same then you might have to face consequences.
• The students have to wear their identity cards allotted by the college at all times especially during class hours.
• Laptops and mobile phones were not allowed for freshers earlier, but now some rules have been changed and now freshers can carry a mobile phone too. 
• The entry timing of the boys’ hostel for first-year students is 9 PM and for second-year students is 10 PM. The canteens are open till 8 PM and a night canteen which is open from 9-10 PM and it is accessible to all hostels. 
• Wearing uniforms is mandatory for all the students and during lab hours of mechanical/ electronics, students are required to wear shoes and tuck in their shirts for safety reasons. 

And there isn't any rule against talking to girls inside the campus. Students to talk to whoever they like and no one will stop you from doing that.
