Every subject which you are currently studying has some credits and every semester has, in total, a certain number of credits. Multiply your SPI with the total credits of the semester. Do this for all the semesters; add them and divide by the sum total of the credits of all semesters. You’ll get your CPI.

Check this detailed formula to get a better view.

Formula:

Let SPI of respective semesters be S1, S2, S3, and so on. Let the credits of respective semesters be C1, C2, C3, and so on. Formulas to calculate CPI would be cumulative of SPI divided by the total number of credits.

CPI = {(S1×C1)+(S2 XC2)+……+(S8×C8)} ÷ (C1+C2+C3+…….+C8)

To calculate CPI, put the values of SPI and the total number of credits of the respective semester.

For example:

  • If SPI of 1st semester = 9 i.e S1 and Credits for 1st semester = 25 i.e C1
  • Similarly S2 =8 and C2=26. CPI for the 2nd semester would be, {(9*25) + (8*26)} ÷ (25+26) = 8.49

Similarly, you can calculate CPI for every semester.

You can also log in to the Dean Academics portal and check your transcript. Your CPI is calculated and shown there. In case of any suspicion, you can cross-check both methods.
