ECE started as an independent branch at IIT Bhubaneswar in 2016. Only around 10% of the students are placed in core companies like Marvell Technology and Qualcomm.

The rest of the students are placed in software companies like- Amazon, Microsoft, HSBC, Mathworks, Oyo, and Razorpay among others.

Thus, a lot fewer core companies visit the campus for placements as compared to software companies. Overall, the ECE branch placements are good.

For those who are open to shifting to the software domain, IIT Bhubaneswar is a pretty good option for your ECE. However, if you wish to work in the core companies, try to get admission to one of the old IITs.

IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT which was established in 2008. And, ECE is one of the newest branches in this IIT which started in 2016 and the first batch graduates in 2020. So there are no previous placement statistics available particularly for ECE. Before 2016 electrical engineering was a combination of traditional electrical and electronic called EEE which used to have a decent average package of 10-12 LPA with the highest package peaking to almost 30 LPA. A good number of core-companies, software companies, and PSU’s hire electrical engineers so it can be assumed that the same trend will follow for ECE.

IIT Bhubaneswar had a serge in placement in 2019 with an average package of 11.44 LPA, approximately 89 companies visiting for on-campus placements, and the overall placement rate was 90%.
