Yes, students with open degrees from KKHSOU and IGNOU are eligible to apply for UPSC and APSC Civil Service Examinations. The eligibility criteria mentioned by UPSC and APSC Civil Service examinations is that aspirants should have completed their degree from a UGC-recognized university.

KKHSOU and IGNOU are UGC recognized. So, you are eligible to apply.

You are eligible for both UPSC and state PCS examinations just like any other university. Your degree is also equivalent to a degree from any other university. In fact, some of the IGNOU students have also cracked the UPSC exam with good ranks.

  • Karthik Gurunathan Iyer was a student of MA at IGNOU and secured All India Rank, 7th in the UPSC Civil Services examination 2010.
  • He not only cleared the examination and secured 7th rank, but he also cracked the exam in his first attempt at an age of 21.
  • He took Political Science and International Relations as optional subjects for the mains examination as he was pursuing MA in Political Science from IGNOU.
  • With his effort and dedication, he completed reading the books, which boosted his performance by getting good marks in my optional Political science subject.
  • He utilized the text material for value addition in the answers and got good scores.
  • His notes helped him a lot and he secured a total of 346 (181+165) in two papers on the subject.

So, just like him, you can also make your entry in the list of toppers not matter from what university you are. All the best!
