Yes, BIT Mesra is considered a tier-1 college. It has an excellent placement record. According to the recent highlights of BIT Mesra placements, students received an average CTC of INR 10 LPA. The placement is especially good for circuital branches. Every year almost more than 100 companies visit the placement drive.

No, BIT Mesra is not a Tier-1 college. It is currently ranked at 46th place in NIRF Rankings 2021 among top engineering colleges. We cannot compare it with top IITs but it has made its position equivalent to a few NITs.

It has upgraded its position from being a Tier 3 college to a Tier 2 college. BIT Mesra placement records have improved over the years. More than 100 companies participated in the recent placement drive.

Seeing its growth, we can say that BIT Mesra can move to the level of Tier-1 colleges in the coming year.

The answer to these questions varies from person to person. I would place BIT-Mesra as Tier-3. Carrying on, my division of college would be as follows.

  • Tier - 1: Old IITs, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi, TIFR, CMI, ISI Kolkata.
  • Tier-2: ISM, IIT BHU, BITS Pilani, Most new IITs, IIIT Allahabad, IIIT Bangalore, DAIICT
  • Tier-3: BIT Mesra, Old NITs (Trichy/Warangal/Rourkela, etc), IIIT Sri City, LNMIIT Jaipur, IIIT Gwalior, IIIT Jabalpur, IIIT BBSR, IIIT Raipur
  • Tier 4: VIT, SRM, Manipal, NITs (not so popular ones, like Raipur, Jamshedpur, Delhi, etc)
  • Tier-5: Rest colleges

If you are looking for good placements, you can check out the official website of these institutes to get an idea. Hope this helps you.
