Great Lakes, Chennai is better known for its 1-year PGPM program, while the PGDM program has not gained the same level of attention or appreciation as its PGPM counterpart. Additionally, as a relatively new B-school, Great Lakes is not as established as IMT Ghaziabad, which has a rich legacy of around 30 years.

While it's true that the batch size of IMT Ghaziabad can be seen as a drawback, if you are in the top 20-30% of the batch, your placements can be comparable to top-tier B-schools like NMIMS, IIFT, and IIM I/K. IMT is particularly known for its marketing specialization, so if you want to specialize in marketing, IMT can be considered a default choice.

Between the given choices, IMT Ghaziabad is the better choice. There is a brief overview of the IMT Ghaziabad and Great Lakes Chennai.

IMT Ghaziabad :

It is one of the top-level B-schools in India.
It has a 30+-year-old history and has all the necessary things which are absolute symphony and this is not going to improve in this decade.
As we all know that there is no distinct B-school that is catching up with the IMT Ghaziabad anytime soon.
Because the others just don’t have the immediate power to overshadow.

Great Lakes :

No one considers this B-school seriously because they have done nothing unusual.
Other than giving a place of solace to very highly experienced Indian GMAT candidates in the past. This is an idea that has taken a very huge hit on its brand identity. This is also why GL’s alumni aren’t where they are deemed to be.
If you have IT experience and want to work in Chennai, you can opt for Great Lake.

Overall, IMT Ghaziabad is the potential choice for the 2 year PGDM.
