The overall coding culture at IIITM Gwalior isn’t as active as it should be. The institute has one club, i.e. AASF which is involved in competitive coding. It conducts various coding competitions around the year. Some of these competitions are specifically for first-year students. IIITM Gwalior has some great programmers, but most of them are self-taught.

The coding environment and competitiveness of the IIITM Gwalior students help them with their overall educational performance. They often perform better during competitive programming like the code forces and CodeChef.

They also have their ratings on the internet. These Programming contests are held at regular intervals and are organized under AASF (A students’ forum). AASF conducts classes for first-year students to introduce them to competitive programming. It generally promotes peer-to-peer learning where seniors mentor the juniors.

At the end of the academic year, an annual programming contest was held, this year it was AASF-ICPC in which all the coding enthusiasts took part.

Ultimately it depends on you and how much you are interested in learning coding. Your level of interest should motivate the seniors to teach you.

Most of the teams qualify for ICPC regionals and finish with a decent rank, but certain factors restrict them from the finals.
