One of my friends shared her experience at IIIT Hyderabad. He had a rather smooth experience initially but something made him change his mind.
He is a dual degree student and has no interest in his Masters' stream CSE and thus is finding it very challenging to cope with his thesis. Additionally, the administration had tightened up on the rule for mandatory publication as a prerequisite to graduation. He did not like the sudden change in the rules especially for 5th, 6th, 7Th year students.
IIIT Hyderabad offers a good campus experience.
Overall, you will like being on campus.
The experience of meeting different people at IIIT Hyderabad is both good and bad. Their mess facility could be improved. The hostels were decent with the availability of basic amenities, like 2-3 functional and automatic washing machines.
You will get to learn a lot from the faculty members as they were cooperative and helpful. After you are here, 85 percent of students attend the classroom and hearing is for those who feel frustrated that the marks are everything.
The hostel is adequate for a first-year student, even though gradually learned that the rooms are more spacious for other hostels like OBH. Monthly room service is finished, you must keep your room clean for the rest of the period and make it your responsibility. There were three fully automatic washing machines in our hostel. Everything is well equipped.
The interactions between the students and the seniors are moderate which may gradually develop every passing year. They organize fests and cultural events. The seniors make the juniors work more during these events which sometimes also becomes hectic for them.
PT and Yoga are good but are not synchronized with our lives. In the first year focus on passing them. PT and Yoga alone are not difficult to get up with or even less than a 2-3 hour sleep. There are very good sports facilities provided here. Classes were very boring; learned little from the course on Computer Systems Organization and that it was a waste of time that was a course and that instructors were too fine.
Finally, always look at the positive side and try to be as glad as possible.
