In order to apply for a medical school in the UK it is mandatory for you as an applicant to appear for the UKCAT or BMAT.

Even if the BMAT is not required by all, it is necessary for some of the institutes:

University of Leeds
Lancaster University
University of Oxford
University of Cambridge
Royal Veterinary College
Imperial College London
Brighton and Sussex Medical School

Some of the universities that accept UCAT are:

University	UCAS Course Code
University of Aberdeen	A100, A105, A201
Anglia Ruskin University	A100
Aston University	A100
University of Birmingham	A100, A101, A200
University of Bristol	A100, A108, A206, A208
Cardiff University	A100*, A104, A200, A204
University of Dundee	A100, A104, A200

Appearing for either UKCAT or BMAT depends on the university you are willing to apply for. Students of the state board go for UKCAT. CBSE students can choose to appear for both examinations and so can IB and A students. You can be guided towards your decision by a good institution and counselor for preparing for the exams like Trinity Global Education.
