Does the college from where you did your under graduation really matter in selection process of IIM Ahmedabad?

To some extent, it matters. For instance, if you attended one of the top 20 colleges in your field, you will stand out.

Please keep in mind that the selection process is a way of finding students who are good at certain things. So you might be good at co-curricular or extracurricular activities that set you apart. It is possible to be overlooked if you have graduated from an average college. Because of your other qualities, the interviewers and admissions committee are interested in you.

When you look at any given batch of IIM students, you will notice that they come from a variety of backgrounds, talents, and colleges. Remember that not all IITians convert to IIMA, and not every IIMA student is an IITian.

Yes it certainly does matter, from where you have completed your undergraduate degree. If someone thinks otherwise, it is absolutely impractical.

It’s a fact that cannot be ignored at all as it would help you to grab a seat for sure. The brighter your academic & co-curricular record is under graduation; more it will add on to your score of CAT and take you closer towards your dream.

The major factors to be kept in mind are :

90% marks in class 10th & 12th. The marks in mathematics should not be less than 90 percent as it signifies your aptitude in a general sense.
A representation of your regional sport activity is a must.
A good college with an excellent tag is important like IIT, BITS Pilani , NIT, SRCC and many more.
Fluent communication skills are a prerequisite with good language hold on at least 5 languages.
A letter of recommendation from eminent faculty will be a must to get into the institute. The companies like McKinsey, BCG Partner are definitely a good option to define your performance parameters.
A proper health status is mandatory. An individual having major health issues is a deterrent.

These are major things to consider while entering IIM Ahmedabad. A lot of resumes are rejected due to these loopholes in general. Summing up; an overall good personality is what IIM Ahmedabad looks for and you will be a step away if you don't focus or neglect them with respect to academics.
