ISB Hyderabad and IIM Ahmedabad are among the most reputed B-Schools in India. Contrary to the popular belief that IIMs are the best option, ISB is better than most new IIMs. Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

IIM Ahmedabad-

  • Flagship program for IIMA is Post Graduate Program in Management. The course fee is INR 23 lakhs.
  • The faculties of the institute are alumni of reputed universities across the globe. You will get help from the faculty regarding any doubts even outside the classroom.
  • The college campus is well equipped with modern instruments to provide quality education. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned. The library stays open 24*7 for students and faculty.
  • During the 2021 placement, the average CTC offered was 26.13 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 1.32 Cr PA.

ISB Hyderabad-

  • The flagship program for ISB Hydrabad is Post Graduate Program in Management (12 months). The total course fee is INR 36.3 lakhs.
  • ISB Hyderabad has a great pool of well-experienced faculty.
  • In the 2022 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 25 LPA while the highest was INR 42 LPA.

In terms of ROI, IIM A shows better results compared to ISB Hyderabad. The required fee is also less for IIMA. Unlike ISB, you won’t need mandatory work experience to join IIMA.

IIM Ahmedabad and ISB Hyderabad are two distinct colleges that have their own perks. It is hard to determine which is better since it depends on your expectations from the degree. Discussed below are some of the aspects of the two institutions.

  • Work Experience: If you have experience of 3-4 years or more then ISB will give you more opportunities while if you are a fresher you can definitely rely on IIM.
  • Type of Sector: For the finance jobs, IIM will be preferable, while for the consulting jobs ISB is a better option.
  • Visiting Faculty: If you want to have a similar MBA experience as the foreign B-Schools, go for ISB. ISB has many visiting faculties from reputed B-Schools like Harvard, Kellogg, LBS.
  • Peer Group: The peer group at ISB is also more international. Many students returning from abroad choose ISB to get ready for the Indian job market.
  • Duration: In the terms of years, IIM is a 2 years MBA course while ISB is a 1-year course. This is a whole 1-year difference which is very important.
  • Brand Value: In terms of brand value, ISB has maintained its fame and name in just a short span of 10 years but then the improvement is always needed and the officials are making efforts to do the same. This is also true for IIM A.
  • Entry-level Jobs: At IIM, there are more entry-level posts compared to ISB. So getting a job in a completely different domain is much easier in IIM in comparison to ISB. For example, if you are from a marketing background and worked for 5 years in the IT sector, you will not get a Brand Manager post for an FMCG company at ISB.

It solely depends on the personal interest of the student to decide either of the colleges.
