If you want to target ABC L, having a 70% BE may be a concern. However, it's important to consider your risk appetite and the rationale behind pursuing an MBA. Some people may choose to wait and apply to higher-ranked IIMs, while others may decide to take the risk and apply to a school like IIM Shillong. It's also worth considering that getting into a college with better rankings can be a great feeling, but you should also weigh the risk and return of your decision.

It might be helpful to consider the pros and cons of different options and try to get a bigger picture of your goals before making a decision. Keep in mind that some people with lower GMAT scores or undergraduate grades have been able to get into top schools like Kellogg's and Michigan, while others have been successful in technical fields without pursuing an MBA. Ultimately, it's important to consider your individual circumstances and make a decision that is right for you.

One of my friends graduated from IIM Bangalore and another one from IIM Shillong. He earns less as compared to that of IIM Shillong alumni. Even though IIM Bangalore is ranked as the second-highest B-school of India, the placement rate is not good there.

Tabulated below is a brief overview of the institute:

Category

IIM Shillong

Ranking

#30 by NIRF

Total Fee

24 lakhs

Companies Visited

Backstone group, Colgate, FIITJEE, etc.

Highest Package

48.5 lakhs

IIMs make their students go through a thorough learning process and this is why everything depends on the skills which the students develop during the two years of their two years. Although the top 3 IIMs might get some better companies as compared to the others but all the IIMs have more or less the same teaching methodology. It completely depends on the student how they make use of the various opportunities that are provided in those two years and how they make the most of it.

But since the pattern of CAT keeps on changing without any prior notice, it is advisable to not take unnecessary risks in your life and opt for IIM Shillong. You must give your best in the two years at IIM-Shillong and grab every opportunity. If you do all this well, you will ultimately land in a good position in life.
