studied at Ashoka University

You should choose Ashoka University. It follows an innovative course curriculum and offers a lot of academic freedom to the students. There is no restriction on the combination of subjects that you want to pursue. Other than major and minor subjects, students are required to foundation courses in various subjects. If you are confused about your major, you can do a foundation course on it and decide on your major in the 2nd or 3rd semester. As a part of course work, students are required to write research papers, abstracts, and essays.

The student crowd of Ashoka is excellent due to the stringent selection process. Ashoka University acceptance rate is 8-9%.

Both Ashoka University and DU have their advantages but when compared on an overall scale, the former is better.

  • Ashoka University offers a better learning curve. At the university, you will learn through various assignments and writing research papers. The teaching methodology followed there is more interactive. While, at DU, most students tend to mug up right before examination.
  • Ashoka University has an amazing faculty lineup. Most of the faculties are alumni of top-rated universities in India as well as abroad.
  • You will get access to great international exposure at Ashoka. Through their study abroad program, students have gone to universities like Harvard and Yale.
  • The research culture of Ashoka University beats DU’s research culture. At Ashoka, you are required to do an undergraduate dissertation which is great for students who want to pursue higher studies.

Studied BA in Economics at Ashoka University, (2019)

Choosing a college between these two is a very tough choice. Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) is one of the most reputed and established colleges in India and securing a seat here is a tedious task.

On the other hand, Ashoka University is one of the best upcoming universities in India, and it recently gained popularity. Studying here and learning from my batchmates at SRCC, I can elaborate on why one is better than the other.

In order to select a college between the two, you can refer to the facts I have suggested below -

Faculty (Ashoka>SRCC)

  • Ashoka University has a better faculty among the two colleges. The university gains an upper edge due to the presence of their reputed teachers. They are very helpful and cooperative.
  • Many notable teachers comprise the faculty of Ashoka University. Detailed information about them are provided on the college website.
  • While on the other hand, many students of not only SRCC but also in DU are not satisfied with their faculty members and their quality of teaching.

Academic Learning and Exposure (Ashoka>SRCC)

  • In SRCC, most of the students keep themselves busy with clubs and societies. Attendance is not taken seriously. Students are known to have 0-5% attendance. DU is seen as the pillar of learning while the reality, you do not learn anything real. Students have mentioned that only mugging answers during exams gets the job done.
  • Students of Ashoka on the other hand, are eager to learn and understand about any topic. This difference in learning depends on the faculty and their engagement towards their students.

Reputation (SRCC>Ashoka)

SRCC has a better reputation as a college across the country. There are very limited people who haven’t heard about SRCC. This popularity among students and teachers helps in the placement process.

Campus Life (SRCC>Ashoka)

  • Being in the capital city SRCC is easily accessible to all. The required facilities are readily available, making their campus life easier and better. Frequent fests also take place in DU.
  • On the other hand, The campus life at Ashoka University is also good. They have Ashoka Premier League and Banjaara. But the campus is situated in an isolated place in Sonepat, making it less accessible.

Hostel and General Facilities (Ashoka>SRCC)

  • Hostel and other facilities provided by Ashoka university is excellent and is better than many private and government colleges in India. Thus, in this criteria Ashoka University triumphs.
  • Ashoka University pushes students to focus on learning. Most of the subjects taught need cognitive abilities. The university collaborates with other universities, organizing competitions, seminars, industry visits, etc. providing better exposure.

Research Projects (Ashoka>SRCC)

  • The research projects play an important role in the selection of a college, as the degree provided by them, sets on the research project.
  • In Ashoka, the research opportunities are excellent and the projects are very flexible.

Ashoka University has an upper edge in almost all of the criteria that are mentioned above. If you have to choose a college between them you can opt for Ashoka for its better faculty, facilities, research, exposure, and other criteria.
