My friend had to choose between DTU CSE and NSIT CSE and eventually went for DTU CSE after considering the below points

  • Brand name: DTU enjoys better recognition both inside and outside Delhi because of its rich legacy while NSIT is hardly known outside Delhi.
  • Alumni Network: Being one of the oldest technical institutes it has an extensive alumni network whereas NSIT was established much later and its alumni pool is small.
  • Placements: Both NSIT and DTU give an edge to each other in terms of placements and their average package is quite similar. DTU average package stands at INR 15.16 LPA while NSIT median package stands at INR 16 LPA. However, DTU has a larger batch size so maintaining this average package in itself proves that it's better.
  • Location: NSIT enjoys a better location and has easy access to shopping centers and eateries. It also attracts a better crowd than DTU.
  • Campus: DTU has a better maintained and facilitated campus than NSUT. NSIT has a lot of unused land which has become a breeding ground for wild animals.
  • Sports Facility: DTU is a clear winner here with its huge sports complex and indoor Badminton courts.
  • Research culture: Both colleges have poor research culture so if you are a research enthusiast, choose IIIT Delhi instead.

The ultimate decision depends on personal factors like distance from home and other inclinations.

Both NSIT and DTU are reputed colleges. You won’t miss out much if you choose one institute over the other.

  • NSIT and DTU both follow a similar curriculum.
  • Both the institute have active coding culture. For the last few years, students of both colleges were performing well in various coding competitions. While the average CTC offered during DTU placements is around INR 11.17 LPA.
  • Both institutes have excellent placement records. NSIT placements highlights of the last few years report a median CTC of INR 12 LPA.
  • NSIT is strict regarding attendance. DTU is comparably more relaxed regarding rules and regulations.
  • The student crowd is almost similar at both campuses. NSIT has a higher cutoff than DTU. The reason behind that is the limited number of seats.
  • Comparably DTU has better infrastructure. It has a well-planned campus.
  • NSIT and DTU try to outperform each other in terms of the grandness of their fests.

So, there is no clear winner. You can choose either of these institutes.

One of my friends is a student at DTU. He had the choice of taking admission in any of the courses at these colleges. Given below is a comparison of both these colleges.

Particulars

NSIT

DTU

Median Salary

Rs. 18 LPA

Rs 11.17 Lakhs

Fees

Rs 1.9 LPA

Rs. 1.66 LPA

Traveling Distance:

  • If you are not opting for a PG or hostel, you should consider the distance of the institutes from your home. Choose the institute closer to your home. Otherwise, you will lose 2-3 hours in commute, daily. You will almost waste 1500 in the 4-year duration. The total time you invested in preparing for JEE may be less than that.

Peer-group: (DTU~NSIT)

  • The quality of the peer-group at both NSIT and DTU are almost similar. You will have the brightest mind of the country as your peer at both institutes.
  • You can hear people say that the cutoff for COE at NSIT is better than DTU. This is only normal as NSIT has a much smaller batch size as compared to DTU.
  • As of 2020 statistics, NSIT is preferred for CO, CSAI. Whereas, DTU is unparalleled for ECE & Mech.
  • Students from outside of Delhi tend to prefer DTU. It is also observed that reserved category students prefer DTU more.

Curriculum: (DTU~NSIT)

  • At NSIT and DTU, students can choose electives from the first-year.
  • The syllabus has recently been revised in both organizations; both the institutes implement the CGPA framework.
  • DTU follows a relative grading system. DTU also allows for taking online courses (MOOCs).

Faculty: (NSIT>DTU)

NSIT may have slightly better faculty. However, at both the colleges, you will learn more through peer-learning than from faculty.

Placement: (DTU>NSIT)

  • For software job profiles NSIT is better. Whereas, DTU is better for core and non-tech job profiles.
  • Many may say DTU has a disadvantage of larger batch size which results in bad placement. This is not the case, in fact, the competition keeps you motivated to deal well.
  • The median salary at DTU is 11.17 LPA. For average students, DTU offers better placement. NSIT may offer one or two better placement offers if you belong to the top of your class.

College Life: (DTU>>NSIT)

College life at DTU is much better than NSIT.

  • The rules and regulations at NSIT are very strict. There are records of freshers’ welcome being canceled and fests organized at the last minute at NSIT.
  • DTU administration has a more chilled approach. It conducts 5 or more fests every year.
  • Recently DTU started an attendance app and students need to maintain at least 50% attendance.

Coding Culture: (DTU~NSIT)

  • Coding culture at both the institutes is on par. Since you can learn everything about coding from the internet.
  • In the past, NSIT students showed brilliance in coding competitions like Coding Blocks, Ninjas. However, the GSoC section was better at DTU.

Hostel: (NSIT>DTU)

If you want a good hostel life then NSIT is better.

Laboratories: (DTU>NSIT)

For Mechanical and Electronics laboratory facilities at DTU is better. Currently, the ECE department at DTU is involved in some of the state-of-the-art works.

To your next-door neighbor, DCE (DTU Delhi) is more recognizable. In the tech-industry NSIT and DTU, both are equally reputed. DTU campus has better utilization of space and it is quite beautiful. However, at both campuses construction work is going on currently. DTU has wonderful facilities for all sports like football, cricket, table tennis, badminton, Kabaddi, etc.
