GATE preparation is enough for ISRO. If you prepare diligently for GATE, ISRO Written will be easier for you. Focus more on Signal Systems, Communication Systems, Networks, etc. Solve the previous years' question papers. You can read some additional topics like Microwave Devices, VHDL, Programming of 8085, & 8051, etc. as well. It will give you a competitive edge.

ISRO Interviews are more difficult in comparison. It is also the sole criteria for selection. Study 5-6 subjects in depth for the interview.

ISRO recruitment test is for aspirants seeking to get into the Indian Space Research Organization. There are various posts under ISRO like Scientist, Technician, Engineer, Draughtsman, Technical Assistant, Controller, etc.

If you have covered the syllabus for GATE thoroughly, then it should be enough for ISRO. ISRO entrance exam questions are not as difficult as GATE. The questions are less numerical and more conceptual.

Given below are a few important pieces of information about the ISRO entrance test which may help you with your preparation.

Exam Pattern:

  • ISRO recruitment phase is split into 2 rounds: Written-test & personal interview.

  • The written exam is of objective type.

  • There are 80 questions to be completed in a time of 90 minutes. Each question carries 3 marks. Each wrong answer will carry with it a penalty of 1 mark.

  • Qualifying in the written exam will make the candidate eligible for the interview.

  • A minimum of 60% is required to qualify in the interview round.

  • The final selection of the candidate will be based on merit in both rounds.

Syllabus:

  • ISRO does not release any official syllabus for their exam.

  • The syllabus will be quite similar to GATE.

The written part of the GATE and ISRO is quite similar. However, you should manage your time wisely, as you need to answer 80 questions in 90 minutes duration. Also, prepare thoroughly for the interview as it is the only criteria for selection.
