IIM Ranchi has a good HRM program among the IIM. IIM Kozhikode also has a great HR faculty. But most IIMs don’t have well-designed HRM courses. Also, very few recruiting companies offer HR job roles at the placement drive of IIMs. Usually, most companies prefer students from XLRI, TISS, SIBM, SCMHRD, etc. for HR job roles.

XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and SIBM are counted amongst top institutes in terms of placements. However, if someone doesn’t make it through these institutes or wish to go for any other IIMs for HR, the candidates can seek admissions at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), or Indian Institute of Management (IIM Indore). Other than these two IIMs, the Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship Development (IMED) is also good for HR placement.

Placements:

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB):

In terms of placements, IIMB is counted amongst the top B-schools in India. The institute has its Placement and Training Cell which bridge a gap between the industry and the students. It deals with seminars, workshops, internship programs to assist students in the placements.

  • The placement record for the academic year 2019 was 100%.

  • The average salary offered was INR 26 LPA and the median salary offered was INR 25 LPA.

  • Top recruiters include Amazon, Accenture, Bain, and Company, McKinsey&Company, Microsoft, Aditya Birla Group, etc.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM Indore):

The placement cell of the institute invites numerous reputed companies for recruitment.

  • Over 200 companies participated in the placement drive for batch 2018-2020.

  • A total of 160+ placement offers were made while around 132 pre-placement were made.

  • The highest domestic package offered was INR 50 LPA while the average package offered was INR 22.92 LPA and a median salary package offered was INR 22 LPA.

  • The top recruiters include Asian Paints, Axis Bank, Deloitte, Cognizant, HSBC, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, IBM, and many more.

Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship Development (IMED):

The placement cell at IMED is highly active and dedicated. It is known as the ‘Corporate Resource Centre’ and to enhance job opportunities, it organizes activities like corporate day and certificate courses of executive excellence.

  • Every year, over 150 companies participate in the placement drive.

  • The placement record at IMED is 100%.

  • For the MBA, the highest international package offered was INR 54.08 LPA; the highest domestic package offered was INR 18 LPA while the average salary was INR 7.5 LPA.

All the above-mentioned colleges such as XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and SIBM are excellent private colleges. Which provides good HR placements in comparison to IIMs. But if one has to choose between IIMs they can look at the information given below;

  • IIMs are considered the best institutes for management studies. Currently, there are 20 IIMs in India with the oldest being IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta.

  • IIMs are well-known institutes that bag top rankings in all aspects. In comparison to XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and SIBM, IIMs are more reputed and have given better placements to students.

  • However, these colleges are right behind the IIMs, the pros of the college include that they provide better facilities than IIMs and they have smaller batches. Smaller batches lead to a better understanding of the course and the faculty provides more time for each student.

  • In conclusion, IIMs are the more trusted group of colleges however, in terms of placements, all the colleges provide excellent placement percentages.

For the year 2020, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode had the best placement record. For comparison, we can see the placements record of these top 3 IIM for the HR course.

College

Highest CTC (In INR)

Average CTC (In INR)

IIM Calcutta

80 LPA

28 LPA

IIM Lucknow

54 LPA

20 LPA

IIM Kozhikode

58 LPA

23 LPA

Even though all the other IIMs provide excellent placements, the above-mentioned branches were able to get their students the highest packages.

Therefore, apart from the private colleges which were mentioned above, these three IIMs, i.e. IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode provide the best placements in India for HR.
