Shall I take the IIT, Tirupati CSE or the BITS Hyderabad CSE?

BITS Hyderabad, which is affiliated under BITS Pilani, ranked 30th by NIRF amongst top engineering colleges in India, is very well renowned for computer science. While IIT Tirupati was recently established and hasn’t been ranked yet by NIRF.

Campus

  • IIT Tirupati- The permanent campus, proposed to be spread across 530 acres, is under construction as of now and students have to stay in a transit campus.
  • BITS- It is spread over a lush 200 acre space. 3 Huge Fests are organised every year which see a footfall of around 3,000. Various events and competitions are also organised round the year which help in holistic development.

Placement

BITS Hyderabad

It has an average placement rate of 94% for computer science. Top recruiters are Aditya Birla Group, Microsoft, Adobe, BeeHyv, Amazon, etc. Other notable features are:

  • Average CTC offered is 11 LPA
  • Highest CTC offered is 40 LPA
  • Around 25% students receive PPOs from companies like Google, Dell, Spikewell, Microsoft in the pre-final year

IIT Tirupati

It is relatively new, hence much detailed placement data is not yet available. Major recruiters are Envestnet Yodlee, Bosch, TCS, Honeywell, etc.

  • The average package was 9.6 LPA
  • Highest CTC offered was 25 LPA

Both BITS and IITs have a brand value but Tirupati being a new institute, is yet to make its mark. Faculties at both the colleges are highly qualified. Computer science is the most sought-after skill in the present industry and hence if one works hard, he/she can excel.
