Lives in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India

Absolutely, if you are interested in pursuing civil engineering in Gujarat, then IITRAM is a better option than Nirma and PDPU. There are several reasons for this.

  • IIT Gandhinagar is the mentor of IITRAM, and it has a COE by Siemens. This association ensures that IITRAM provides excellent facilities and exposure to its students.
  • IITRAM is the nodal centre in Gujarat for the E-Yantra project (Robotics) initiated by IIT Bombay. This project enables students to gain hands-on experience in robotics, which is essential in today's world.
  • The Board of Governance and Academic Council of IITRAM comprise directors, deans, and professors from IIT Gandhinagar, which is also reflected in the college's brochure. The faculty selection for IITRAM is done by IIT GN, and the syllabus is decided with the help of IITB.
  • IITRAM has a Siemens Centre of Excellence, which has nine extraordinary labs, along with 13 other labs, providing practical knowledge to students.

Therefore, if you are an ACPC student in Gujarat, it is a golden opportunity for you to pursue civil engineering at IITRAM.

However, it is essential to note that IITRAM is an excellent option only if you have an interest in core branches such as mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering. If you are interested in computer science, then you should prefer Nirma. On the other hand, if you are interested in petroleum, then PDPU would be a better option for you. LD is also a very good option for those who cannot afford Nirma and PDPU.

Studies at Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar (2022)

IITRAM, Nirma, and PDPU are all good Universities and among the best in the state. PDPU University is a member of AIU and is NAAC accredited with an 'A' grade & CGPA of 3.39 out of 4.0. It’s NIRF ranking is 55th and 1st in Gujarat. Nirma University has been ranked 136 F while IITRAM is ranked above 200 in NIRF 2020 Rankings.

In particular, we have to look at placement statistics in B. Tech Civil and the admission process.

Admissions:

Nirma University

  • For admission in B.Tech, one must secure 45% marks in Intermediate Examination with a valid score in GUJCET and JEE Main.
  • Last year cut off for GUJCET was Round 2 | rank 524. For JEE Main it changes per year and according to university.
  • A total of 135 seats are available in Civil.
  • The course fee is almost 7.24 lakhs.

IITRAM:

  • For admission in B.Tech, one must secure 45% marks in Intermediate Examination with a valid score in GUJCET and JEE Main.
  • Last year cut off for GUJCET was Round 2 | rank 12,762. For JEE Main Round 7 | Rank 42,348.
  • A total of 38 seats are available in Civil engineering.
  • The course fee is almost 3.40 lakhs.

  PDPU:

  • For admission in Bachelor of technology, one must secure 45% marks in Intermediate Examination with a valid score in GUJCET and JEE Main.
  • Last year cut off for GUJCET was Round 2 | rank 1489. For JEE Main it changes per year and according to university.
  • A total of 120 seats are available in Civil.
  • The course fee is almost 9.50 lakhs.

The infrastructure is well maintained in the above Universities with Nirma a little better than the other two. Looking at the above statistics we can conclude that IITRAM is not better than the above two in Civil due to less seat availability and not much efficient placement record.
