LD College of Engineering is a reputed engineering college affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and is also overlooked by the Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Gujarat. The L.D.C.E Department of Textile Technology covers modern spindle and spinning production, production processes for apparel, textile science, physical screening, software-enabled production, and wet manufacturing layout.

Academics:

While the Textile technology program was started in the year 1977, the Textile Engineering course (post-graduation) is relatively new and started in the year 2010.

  • The undergraduate Textile Technology course has an intake of 60 students while the post-graduation Textile Engineering course takes around 18 students every year.

  • The department is headed by Mr. Ashwin Thakkar with six other Assistant professors.

Admission:

  • 10+2 with a minimum of 45% pass percentage is required along for a bachelor’s degree and for MTech students require graduation.

  • GUJCET and GATE are the entrance exams accepted in the institute.

  • The tentative cut-off of the course is 6819-14369.

  • The tuition fee for BE Textile Technology and MTech Textile Engineering is INR 9,520.

Facilities:

  • The department has laboratories like Spinning Lab, Weaving Lab, Fabric Structure Lab, Processing Laboratory, Knitting Lab.

  • The LDCE library has 90520 books, 33726 titles, CDs/DVDs, 53 print journals, and 1326 e-books.

  • Industrial visits to Adani Foundation and Plasma Research happen quite frequently for the students.

Placements:

The Placement Cell provides expert lectures, industry visits, recruitment training as well as industrial training for the students of the college.

  • Welspun, Accenture, and Bhilwara Group are the top recruiters of Textile students.

  • The placement rate of the university is around 85%.

  • In 2019, 28 students of the course received job offers by the recruiting companies.

  • Over 2244 students have been successfully employed in the last four years, out of which 122 are Textile graduates.

The Textile technology course has a wide scope in several areas such as sales, R&D, production control, corporate management, etc. It is essential that the student makes their academic choices keeping in mind the college, faculty, department, placement prospects, and campus facilities.
