The Mining Engineering Department of NIT Surathkal has produced more than 826 undergraduates as of now. The department also offers a research program in Rock Excavation Technology and Management. Projects in the Mining Engineering department are funded by the Hutti Gold Mines Company, Uranium Corporation of India and Neyveli Lignite Corporation, etc. NIT Surathkal was ranked 13th and 11th for Engineering by NIRF 2020 and The Week 2020.

Admission:

  • Admission to B.Tech programs is done through score obtained in JEE Mains and percentage in 10+2, while admission to M.Tech is done on the basis of GATE score.

  • Total fees for the four years BTech program is 5.39 Lakh with an intake capacity of 63.

Facilities:

  • Basic Facilities include Model Mine, Gas Testing Facilities, Conference Hall, and Innovation Chamber.

  • The Mining Engineering also hosts state-of-art laboratories and includes, Rock Mechanics, Rock Drilling, Rock Blasting, Mine Environmental Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mine Planning and Design, and Mine Surveying Laboratory.
