I will not recommend you choose NIT Kurukshetra Production and Industrial Engineering because you will need a good rank for it and you can opt for CS at better colleges with that rank. Moreover, joining a college in the hope of solely upgrading your branch isn't a wise decision. The branch change procedure is more challenging than it seems. For branches like CS, you need a very high CGPA around 9.6+ which will be very tiring. Even after that, there isn't a guarantee for branch change as other factors like availability of seats and the demand of the branch are considered. You might get Mechanical with a lower CGPA around 9 though. I know a friend who went for Production and Industrial Engineering at NIT Kurukshetra and then changed his branch into mechanical engineering by securing a pointer of 9.0.

The point is this is a risky option and you cannot bet your 4 years on this. If you are good at dealing with failures and want to come out of your comfort zone to challenge yourself, then consider joining the branch and working for branch change. But if you feel you won't be able to handle the consequences then look for other options because the branch of Production and Industrial Engineering isn't very easy.
